The Classic Choco Chip
This is the only recipe you'll ever need. We use brown butter to give it a nutty depth and a mix of dark and milk chocolate chunks for the perfect melt.
INGREDIENTS
- 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup butter, softened
- ¾ cup sugar
- ¾ cup packed brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 2 cups chocolate chips
INSTRUCTIONS
Preheat & Prep
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats to prevent sticking.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk gently to aerate the flour and ensure even distribution of the leavening agents.
Cream Butter & Sugar
In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy and pale in color (about 2-3 minutes).
Combine
Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Gradually beat in the flour mixture. Finally, fold in the chocolate chips by hand.
Bake
Drop by rounded tablespoon onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes or until golden brown. Cool on baking sheets for 2 minutes; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
PRO TIP
Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes before baking. This solidifies the fat in the cookies and prevents them from spreading too much!
